General Notes |
Description
Story of a dysfunctional family that not only don't share their interests, activities and aspirations, but actively lie to prevent the other family members from knowing what's going on in their lives. This complex plot of white lies and black lies (most hiding good things) gets them more and more entwined in a total mess of misunderstandings. The film reaches the scope of some of the best Shakespearean and Astaire-Rogers Hollywood "mistaken identity" and misinterpretations story-lines. The twisted set of lies hurtle towards one of the longest climax scenes in cinema, that in some ways plays out like a light-hearted version of a Greek tragedy.
Theme
Lying is not the way to live.
Emotional Sum or Sense-of-life
Anxiety and pain from all the lies and mistaken motives. Catharsis from the climax, leading to feelings of wanting to be truthful in life!
