General Notes |
A stone sculpture largely intact body, but missing head and arms. The work is all flowing lines of drapery as if the woman depicted was rushing forward. The clothing is pressed against her breasts outlining them, and her long toga/dress is waves of material trailing her movement.
Life is movement.
Human action is beautiful.
Sculpture is difficult to see, because, even though it is displayed in a spacious new wing of the Vatican, they have had this section of the museum closed for a couple of decades.
